Vixen Hill Home Products stands behind the quality of our cedar shutters. This limited warranty is designed to help homeowners understand what is covered, what is not, and how to file a warranty claim if an issue arises.

Warranty Overview

Vixen Hill Home Products warrants its cedar shutters to the original purchaser for the original property where the shutters were installed against defects in materials and workmanship.

To qualify for warranty coverage, shutters must be installed according to Vixen Hill’s recommended specifications and maintained in a reasonable manner after installation.

This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original owner of the property where the shutters were first installed.

Warranty coverage is based on the original eligible product cost and does not include shipping, handling, or sales tax.

What This Warranty Covers

This limited warranty covers defects in cedar shutter materials or workmanship when the shutters were properly installed and used for their intended purpose.

If a covered claim is approved, Vixen Hill Home Products may choose to:

• Repair the affected product
• Replace the affected product
• Refund the eligible product cost, excluding shipping, handling, and sales tax

Vixen Hill Home Products will determine the appropriate resolution after reviewing the claim.

Paint and Finish Coverage

Vixen Hill Home Products is not responsible for paint or finish failure unless the shutters were factory-painted and the issue falls within the applicable paint finish warranty term.

This warranty does not cover paint, stain, primer, or finish issues caused by coatings applied by the customer, installer, painter, or any third party. This includes shutters that were supplied as primed only, since Vixen Hill cannot control the final finish materials or application method.

Fading, gloss reduction, and normal weathering of painted wood surfaces are expected in exterior applications and are not considered defects.

Important Installation Requirements

Proper installation is required to maintain warranty coverage.

Shutters must not be mounted flat against the home. An air gap is required. Mounting shutters directly against the home without an air gap automatically voids the warranty.

Shutters also have a front and back side. The joint pegs are located on the back side of the shutter. Installing shutters with the pegged side facing outward automatically voids the warranty.

Additional hinge requirements also apply:

• Shutters 60 inches or taller must have at least 3 hinges per shutter
• Shutters 75 inches or taller must have at least 4 hinges per shutter

Deflection, distortion, or movement caused by using too few hinges is not covered by this warranty.

What is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage, failure, or changes caused by:

• Post-delivery modifications, including field trimming or atypical installation methods
• Improper installation or installation outside Vixen Hill’s recommended specifications
• Mounting shutters without the required air gap
• Installing shutters with the back side facing outward
• Using too few hinges for taller shutters
• Customer-applied or third-party-applied paints, primers, stains, or coatings
• Weather-related fading or normal finish wear
• Acts of nature, accidents, intentional damage, or unreasonable use
• Unauthorized repairs, modifications, parts, or hardware
• Installing shutters for uses other than their intended exterior window application
• Failure to reasonably maintain the shutters after installation
• Labor, subcontractor, removal, or reinstallation costs
• Shipping, handling, or sales tax

Vixen Hill Home Products is not responsible for subcontractor or labor charges related to removing, reinstalling, or replacing shutters or hardware.

Natural Wood Characteristics

Cedar is a natural material, and some changes or characteristics are expected over time. The following are not considered defects in material or workmanship:

• Small hairline surface or edge checks
• Slight witness lines around raised panels or louvers
• Witness lines around pegged mortise and tenon joints
• Tannin or resin leaching from the wood
• Grain texture variations
• Natural color variations

These characteristics are common in exterior wood products and may occur as the wood expands, contracts, weathers, and responds to outdoor conditions.

Custom Product Limitations

Warranty coverage may not apply to custom shutters fabricated beyond Vixen Hill’s standard product scope or size range. If a purchaser was advised at the time of purchase that warranty coverage would not apply to a specific custom order, that order is not covered under this warranty.

Vixen Hill Home Products reserves the right to change, discontinue, or alter product designs and colors at any time. If the original product is no longer available at the time of an approved warranty claim, Vixen Hill may provide a comparable product of similar quality and price.

To begin a warranty claim, please provide:

• Your name and contact information
• The property address where the shutters were installed
• Proof of purchase
• Date of purchase or receipt
• A description of the issue
• Clear photos showing the problem

Vixen Hill Home Products must have a reasonable opportunity to review and investigate the claim before any repairs are made by the purchaser, installer, or another party.

After the claim is reviewed and verified, Vixen Hill Home Products will determine whether to repair the product, replace the product, or issue an eligible refund based on the terms of the limited warranty.
