For decades, Vixen Hill of Elverson, Pennsylvania has manufactured cedar products using the best joinery and materials. Their goal was to pre-engineer traditional wooden products using proven assembly techniques but with superior materials and precision. The goal was an affordable product that was easy to assemble and would last forever! Over time, the company revisited past customers with their Vixen Hill products to determine whether they'd experienced problems with rot or insects. Nationwide sales since 1981 have offered a unique laboratory of product exposure for testing against a range of outdoor challenges. Studies revealed that certain locations and circumstances were more likely to promote rot and insects. Failure areas were determined to be the lower extremities which deteriorated from constant water penetration due to sprinkler systems or splash-up from roof runoff. The upper portions which of products examined appeared virtually unaffected, with no issues a scrubbing and a fresh coat of paint wouldn't fix.
Vixen Hill's solution was to develop a "Hybrid" version of the products. Hybridization included the use of select wood species, lamination of composites in strategic areas, a urethane end-grain treatment, stainless fasteners and surface coatings. These processes were designed to work in harmony improving an already durable line of products.
Vixen Hill continues to set the standard for the finest most affordable products. "If it isn't Vixen Hill, it isn't perfect."
